Example build · CISO chatbot agent
A conversational agent a CISO can ask about risks, issues and what changed.
A CISO is asked questions all day: how exposed are we, what is still open, what changed since the last meeting? We built an agent that answers them in plain language from the company’s own program data, shows where each answer came from, and leaves the judgment to the CISO.
A question and its answer
Example- Question
- What changed since the last board meeting?
- Answer
- A short summary of new, closed and overdue items
- Sources
- Each statement links to the record behind it
- Gaps
- Says what the data does not show
The situation
The answers existed, but finding them meant opening several places.
A security program holds a lot of facts: risks, open issues, vendor status, control results. A leader asking a simple question often has to open several views, or ask someone, to answer it.
A general-purpose chatbot cannot help here, because it knows nothing about the company and will answer anyway. The answer has to come from the company’s own records, or it should say it does not know.
We built an agent grounded in the company’s program data. It is scoped as its own project, apart from the managed program.
What we built
What we built, in order.
The program data stays where it is. The agent reads it to answer a question, and it does not change it.
Question · Person
The CISO asks in their own words, in a chat.
Access check · Rules in code
Work out who is asking and which records they are allowed to see.
Retrieve · Rules in code
Pull the relevant risks, issues, vendors and controls from the program data.
Answer · AI step
Write a plain answer from those records only, with a link to each source.
Decide · Person
The CISO checks the records behind the answer and decides what to do.
What changed
A leader can get a grounded answer without opening five views.
The CISO can ask a question in plain words and get an answer with its sources. We have no before-and-after figures to publish.
- CISO
- Asks instead of searching, and checks the linked records before repeating an answer to leadership.
- Security team
- Spends less time answering routine status questions from leadership.
- Vectra View
- Builds it as a scoped project. Later changes, such as new data sources, are scoped with you.
